HIGHLIGHTS OF THE COMMISSIONING OF A HIGHLIGHTS OF THE COMMISSIONING OF A REFURBISHED NKULA A POWER PLANT

On October 31, Malawi President Peter Mutharika successfully commissioned the refurbished Nkula A Hydro-power Station, through a glamorous function that took place at Nkula in Neno District. The modernization of Nkula A was done under the $350.7 million Malawi Compact, courtesy of taxpayers in the United States of America (USA), acting through the Millennium Challenge Corporation - MCC. The refurbished Nkula A will help improve the availability of power in Malawi. The modernized plant has already maximized its output to 36 megawatts into the national grid, up from the previous 24 megawatts. It is also expected that the refurbishment works of the plant will improve the reliability of the plant, and extend its useful life for another 30 to 40 years. Here are the highlights of the function in pictures and video.
